“History/Herstory” is a representation of the end of one’s life and all that’s left is their achievements, memories, and what they made their life up to be. How are you going to tell your story at the end of the day?
“Time, Space and Connection”
“Timester” it’s like trimester and time out together. This is to show the stages of a baby in the womb through an ultrasound. This represents the beginning of life. The three trimesters are shown with a baby in the womb holding an embryo and then sperm and egg in the center of it all. A clock is representing the moons for they coincide together with the female's cycles.
Perpetual Companion | Artist Statement
I painted with contrasting monochromatic colors and metallic colors to create the background and then started working from the center point of the canvas. From there I focused on creating an intentional and ordered piece that contains organically developed elements.I started with the rustic red moon phase, making sure that each portion is equal in size. Then I painted the circular moon phase in gold. Fifty-two black dots that link the moon phases represent each week of the year. Behind the red moon phases are clocks and compasses, representing time and direction. The black wavelengths represent the gravitational pull from the tides. These horizontal and vertical elements combined with and circular motion hinted at the moon phases to create a great amount of energy and movement within this work. All of these images together create a feeling of slow, steady, and powerful gravitational energy.
“The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”

Community: Annual Showcase 2021
“Love comes in all shapes and sizes.” No matter your race, your age, your gender, or your beliefs. Hold those you love close and never let them go.
Artist Statement: Community
Community is the feeling of fellowship with others as a result of sharing common interests. The more value that is put into caring for others, the stronger the bonds, and the more sustainable the community becomes. When the worms are intertwined and condensed together, the eye is unable to see where a particular one leads. Each worm begins and ends in different places, but is captured on the canvas in a single static position, reflecting how our human lives are experienced by many small moments that lead to new places all the time. As a whole, the worms illustrate the sensation of uncertainty - not knowing exactly where they’re headed. While they may move independently of each other, the group moves in a mathematical pattern, just the way we encounter our neighbors and peers as we all navigate our lives together. If we’ve learned one thing from our time on this earth, it is that all of our futures are uncertain. Life is the art of experiencing our individual existences together. I used a mathematical pattern known as the golden ratio which is commonly found in nature. When used in a design, it fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing. I used the Fibonacci numbers, which are the sequence of the numbers 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc. The size of each canvas was determined by the sum of the previous two canvas sizes, all the way up to 34 inches.
The raised plaster community is for blind or sight-challenged people who aren't able to fully grasp the full-color palette. They are still part of the community so these textures are for those who feel and can still relate.
